The reason it works this way

Most places quote you four thousand dollars and ask for half of it before anything exists. That’s a lot to risk on someone you’ve just met, and it’s why so many venues are still running a Facebook page and a phone number.

So I don’t do it that way. I build the site, host it and look after it for a monthly fee. You risk one month, not four thousand dollars, and you decide whether to trust me after I’ve actually looked after you for a while.

What it costs

From $150 a month

It depends on what you need — one page sits at the bottom, a bigger site you edit yourself costs more. You’ll have the number before anything is agreed.

No setup fee, no deposit, no lock-in past the twelve months that pay for the build. The rate you start on is the rate you keep.

Every month, that covers

  • Hosting, security, backups and your domain settings
  • Updates, plus a speed and search check every three months
  • Up to an hour of changes — prices, photos, hours. Text me and it’s done
  • Questions answered by the next working day

Your domain is yours, in your name — about $20 a year, and the only thing you buy separately. Bigger jobs like a store or bookings are quoted before I start.

What you actually get

It’s not on a builder you’re locked into.

No WordPress, no Wix, no Squarespace. Nobody can put your subscription up, nobody can switch your site off, and it doesn’t break at 11pm because a plugin updated itself. At twelve months the code, content and hosting are in your name — take it anywhere.

You change your own menu.

Prices went up, there’s a new special, you’re closed Monday — you log in and change it in thirty seconds. Or you text me and I’ll do it, which is included.

It’s fast, and it stays fast.

Every site I build scores 95–100 on Google’s own performance test. So does this page. Most small-business sites score somewhere in the 50s — and a slow site loses the person standing outside deciding where to eat.

People can find it.

Search is built in, not bolted on: proper page titles and descriptions, and your address, hours and menu marked up the way Google reads them. Speed counts too — Google has ranked on it since 2021.

Twenty years, these kitchens

I cooked for twenty years before I wrote a line of code — in Tasmania, Victoria and Queensland. So when you tell me the site needs to work for someone standing in a kitchen at 5pm with wet hands, I know what you mean.

These are the kitchens, not my clients. I’m just telling you where I’m from.

How it works

It starts with a conversation. The four weeks start when you send me your photos and words — not when you sign, because that’s the part I control.

Two rounds of changes are included. If I don’t hear from you within 48 hours at any stage I’ll take it as approved and keep going — that’s what stops a four-week build turning into three months.

Questions people actually ask

How much will mine be?

Between $150 and $300-plus a month. It depends on how many pages you need and whether your business needs payments or a store — I’ll give you the number in the first conversation, before you agree to anything.

What if I want to leave?

Twelve months is the term, because that’s what pays for the build. After that it’s month to month, and the site is yours either way.

What if I stop paying?

I’ll email you, wait a fortnight, and then the site comes offline until it’s settled. Nothing gets deleted. Your domain and your email are yours and aren’t affected.

Can I update it myself?

Yes — that’s what the CMS is for. Or send it to me, it’s included.

Do I need to know anything technical?

No. The most technical thing you’ll do is buy a domain name, and I’ll be on the phone while you do it.

Can I see something you’ve built?

This site is mine, end to end. So is vsource.dev, which I designed and built for a client: vsource.dev ↗ (opens in a new tab)

Tell me about your place.

No sales process. Tell me what you’ve got and what’s annoying you about it, and I’ll tell you whether a website is even the answer. Sometimes it isn’t.
